Basketball Recap: Quitman Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bay

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Quitman). They took down the Bay Tigers 59-42 on Friday. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 43-41 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Bay lost, don't look at Anthony Robinson. Despite the final result, he posted 22 points. That was a full 52.4% of the Tigers' points, marking the fifth time in a row Robinson has scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Meranto, who earned seven points.

Quitman's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points over those games. As for Bay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Coming up, Quitman will square off against Heidelberg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' defense better be ready for this one: the Oilers have averaged an impressive 53.2 points per game this season. As for Bay, they have already played their next matchup, a 55-51 loss against Christian Collegiate Academy on the 6th.
