Baseball Recap: Dunwoody's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Dunwoody dropped their record down to 27-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Archer Tigers by a score of 3-1. The Wildcats were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the four matches prior), but the Tigers' pitchers proved too tough.

Dunwoody got a good showing from Matthew Pearch, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Pearch gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Zach Paulling was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Archer, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

On Archer's side, Grant Thurmond made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Thurmond was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.

Thurmond wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Kalifeh, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As of now, neither Dunwoody nor Archer have any future games scheduled.
