Basketball Recap: Wakefield Takes a Loss

Wakefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans 62-34.

Despite the loss, Wakefield still got an impressive performance from Kate Benson, who posted 17 points and three steals. Benson is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

Aliyah Herndon produced another solid effort almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine boards for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability. Those 21 points gave Herndon a new career-high. Nona Tullis also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Wakefield's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Wakefield will square off against Cresset Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, they will be playing at home against Jordan at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
