Softball Recap: Timothy Christian Takes a Loss

Timothy Christian extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-6. They lost 10-0 to the Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Marian Central Catholic, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Ten seems to be a good number for them as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Marian Central Catholic's part, Christine Chmiel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Chmiel has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylie Kowalsky, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Diana Perez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Timothy Christian is set to square off against their familiar foe St. Edward at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Marian Central Catholic will face off against rival Bishop McNamara at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hurricanes 2.9, the Fightin' Irish 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
