Baseball Recap: Mooresville Pioneers vs. Center Grove Trojans
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mooresville had no problem doing just that on Monday. They came out on top against the Center Grove Trojans by a score of 11-6. Winning may never get old, but Mooresville sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Hogan Denny was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Denny has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive pitching appearances. Denny was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kaleb Kestler was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. Deklan Thompson was another key contributor, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, a run, and a double.
On Center Grove's side, Andrew Krupa was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Noah Coy, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Mooresville's win bumped their record up to 29-3. As for Center Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 27-3.
