Softball Recap: Volcano Vista Comes Up Short

Volcano Vista extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping their season record down to 8-13 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Piedra Vista Panthers. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Hawks haven't been shut out since back in February.

As for Piedra Vista, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-6-1. Considering they have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Piedra Vista's part, BROOKELYNN CADRAIN was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts CADRAIN has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Piedra Vista let ISABELLA JESSEE and MICHAELA PEREA run wild. JESSEE went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while PEREA went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs JESSEE has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was TARYN SORRELHORSE, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Volcano Vista will face off against rival Rio Rancho at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Piedra Vista is set to square off against their familiar foe Cibola at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are on a three-game streak of home wins, the Cougars a five-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
