Baseball Game Preview: Florence Falcons vs. James Clemens Jets

Florence is 1-9 against James Clemens since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jets at 5:30 p.m. The match will give Florence their first taste of in-conference action this season.

On Tuesday, Florence didn't have quite enough to beat Central and fell 5-4. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Florence saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Solomon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Will Aston was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, James Clemens faced Madison Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Jets took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Jets haven't been shut out since back in February.

James Clemens also got a good showing from Will Votroubek, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

James Clemens' loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Florence, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-13.
