Basketball Recap: Columbia Independent Takes a Loss

Columbia Independent was the 63-49 winner over Missouri Military Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Columbia Independent took a hard 71-55 fall against the Missouri Military Academy Fighting Colonels on Tuesday. Even though they lost, Columbia Independent's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.4 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the loss, Columbia Independent still got an impressive performance from Blake Morris, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. The game was Morris' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabe Martin, who posted nine points and eight assists.

Even though they lost, Columbia Independent was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Missouri Military Academy only posted one assist.

Missouri Military Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Trimmer out in front who went 9 of 13 en route to 22 points. Gihana Favour Nziza was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Columbia Independent's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Missouri Military Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Columbia Independent wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-27 win against Keytesville on the 17th. Missouri Military Academy has also already played their next contest (against New Haven), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
