Basketball Recap: Shafter Gets the Win

Shafter lost to Taft back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Shafter Generals managed a 61-57 victory over the Taft Wildcats.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josh Cundiff, who went 11 for 14 on his way to 24 points. The dominant performance gave Cundiff a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Nick Andrade, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Shafter has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. As for Taft, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Shafter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-38 win against Kennedy on the 14th. Taft has also already played their next contest, a 68-46 victory against Wasco on the 14th.
