Football Recap: Purchase Line Comes Up Short

Purchase Line fell victim to River Valley and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Panthers 35-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Dragons of the 34-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Matthew Johnston threw for 32 yards. Ryan Matko was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards. On the ground, Micah Lotson rushed for 34 yards.

River Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jake Woodring, who rushed for 115 yards on only 11 carries, and also caught one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Max Persichetti, who rushed for 56 yards and one score.

This is the second loss in a row for Purchase Line and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for River Valley, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
