Baseball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

Chaparral played against Lovington on Saturday and lost via forfeit.

Israel Nieto stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in five of his eight plate appearances with four runs. Another player making a difference was Diego Ramirez, who got on base in four of his nine plate appearances with three runs and one triple.

Chaparral is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6. As for Lovington, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Coming up, Chaparral will take on Cobre at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lovington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clovis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
