Volleyball Recap: West Springfield Comes Up Short

After flying high against Veritas Prep Charter last Thursday, West Springfield came back down to earth. The Terriers came up short against the Westfield Bombers on Tuesday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bombers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-0 loss two weeks ago.

While West Springfield ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-21, 25-18.

Nathan Galeas paced West Springfield's offense, picking up seven kills. Galeas got some help from Prasanta Bhandari and his 18 assists. Finally, Ethan Kraus kept West Springfield's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Arlen Messier was the offensive standout of the matchup as he had 12 digs and two assists. That's the most digs he has posted over his last six contests.

West Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Westfield, their record now sits at 17-3.

West Springfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westfield, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against St. John's on the 20th.
