Basketball Game Preview: East Surry Cardinals vs. South Stokes Sauras

The East Surry Cardinals just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the South Stokes Sauras at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

East Surry is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 65-40 to North Surry. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 158th).

Meanwhile, South Stokes had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They blew past the Granite Bears 100-63. The Sauras' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

South Stokes pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.1 points per game. As for East Surry, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

East Surry was taken down by South Stokes 85-58 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can East Surry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
