Football Recap: Vanguard's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It's playoff time, and Vanguard had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Auburndale Bloodhounds by a score of 21-14 on Friday. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Knights were the better team in the second half.

Vanguard can attribute much of their success to Sergarion Gunsby, who rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

The win was the third in a row for Vanguard, bringing their record up to 9-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.7 points on average over those games. As for Auburndale, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-3 record.

Looking ahead, Vanguard will square off against Jones at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Knights 7.9, the Fightin' Tigers 9.1) so any points scored will be well earned. Auburndale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
