Recap: Walsh Jesuit Warriors vs. Austintown-Fitch Falcons
The Walsh Jesuit Warriors were the 64-31 winner over the Austintown-Fitch Falcons when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Walsh Jesuit took a 40-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Austintown-Fitch.
Austintown-Fitch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Samantha Severn led the charge by scoring ten points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Destanie Mccullough, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Walsh Jesuit's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1. As for Austintown-Fitch, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Walsh Jesuit will head out on the road to face off against Brush at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brush knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Walsh Jesuit likes a good challenge. As for Austintown-Fitch, they will be playing at home against Ursuline at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
