Baseball Game Preview: Cheshire Academy Cats vs. Wilbraham & Monson Academy Titans

Cheshire Academy is 6-1 against Wilbraham & Monson Academy since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cats will venture away from home to take on the Titans at 4:45 p.m. Cheshire Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Cheshire Academy barely beat Suffield Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cats put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 17-5 win on Wednesday. Considering the Cats have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dan Margolies looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chase Mendela was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Conner Crosbie was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Cheshire Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Wilbraham & Monson Academy fell victim to Williston Northampton and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 12-0. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cheshire Academy pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Wilbraham & Monson Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Cheshire Academy took their victory against Wilbraham & Monson Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
