Basketball Recap: Eufaula Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Eufaula and Russell County, and Russell County kept the tradition alive. The Tigers took a hard 47-33 fall against the Warriors on Tuesday. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in January.

Russell County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mckenzie Word, who posted 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Word is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiyah Word, who went 7-for-13 on her way to 17 points and six boards.

Eufaula now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Russell County, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Eufaula will head out to challenge Glenwood at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Russell County, they will challenge Smiths Station at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
