Baseball Game Preview: Bisbee Pumas vs. San Manuel Miners

The Bisbee Pumas will square off against the San Manuel Miners at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Bisbee: 2.8, San Manuel: 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Bisbee is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Benson, who was ranked 18th at the time (Bisbee was ranked ninth). Bisbee came out on top against Benson by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Pumas in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Horacio Olivarria, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Lopez, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, San Manuel had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 14-3 win.

San Manuel's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Bisbee, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-2.

Bisbee took their victory against San Manuel in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 17-5. Will Bisbee repeat their success, or does San Manuel have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
