Elkhart Christian Academy had lost six straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-11 to make it seven. They came up short against the La Lumiere Lakers, falling 13-3. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Lakers when the teams met back in April of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.
James Ramirez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Elkins, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
As for La Lumiere, their record is now 5-6. Considering they have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On La Lumiere's side, Brady Monaghan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Monaghan also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because La Lumiere is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Monaghan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Christian Lake, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Charlie Peck was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Looking ahead, Elkhart Christian Academy will take on Fairfield at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. La Lumiere does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
