Jimmy Holiday did all he could, accumulating 333 total yards and rushing for three touchdowns. But he and his top-ranked Madison Central (Madison, Miss.) Jaguars couldn't get it done on the road, losing to fifth-ranked Starkville 24-21 on Friday night.

A 24-yard field goal in the final seconds misses for Madison County, which dropped its first game to fall to 7-1.

Starkville got big games from Luke Altmyer (162 yards passing) and receiver Rufus Harvey, who caught eight passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns.

The loss at the top set the tone for a wild night of upsets in the Mississippi Top 25, as No. 4 Oxford, No. 7 Pearl, No. 16 Jackson Prep and No. 25 West Marion all went down to defeat.
