Baseball Recap: Lamar County Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Monday. Lamar County fell just short of Belgreen by a score of 8-7. Lamar County was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Belgreen earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Hunter Gallop made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Lamar County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brooks Brown, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Lamar County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for Belgreen, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-11.

Lamar County and Belgreen are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Bulldogs will face off against Vincent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Belgreen, they will square off against Pleasant Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
