Basketball Recap: South Ripley Takes a Loss

South Ripley entered their matchup against Greensburg on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The South Ripley Raiders took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greensburg Pirates. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Raiders came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Pirates are ranked 137th).

Leading Greensburg to victory were Jack Mckinsey and Jacoby Miller. Mckinsey dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards, while Miller went 5-for-7 en route to 14 points and three steals. Mckinsey also grabbed three steals, which is notable because Greensburg is undefeated when he posts at least three steals, but 7-9 otherwise. Ethan Smith was another key player, putting up seven points.

Having lost for the first time this season, South Ripley fell to 19-1. As for Greensburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

South Ripley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 88-49 victory against Rising Sun on the 21st. As for Greensburg, they will challenge Columbus East at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greensburg is facing Columbus East at the right time seeing as Columbus East is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
