Recap: Louisburg Warriors vs. Granville Central Panthers
If the Louisburg Warriors were feeling good off their 46-22 takedown of the Bunn Wildcats two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Louisburg opened the new year with a less-than-successful 47-42 defeat to they on Friday. They have not had much luck with Granville Central recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Louisburg's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ronald Kearney, who scored 11 points. The game was Kearney's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Josh Smith was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Jordan Alston continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Granville Central, scoring 18 points along with five steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Alston has scored at least 25% of Granville Central's points. Another player making a difference was Trent Harrington, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Louisburg's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Granville Central, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.
Louisburg will head out on the road to face off against Durham School of the Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Durham School of the Arts is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Granville Central, they will play host again and welcome South Granville, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
