Baseball Recap: Wilcox County Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Wilcox County had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They never let the Treutlen Vikings get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won nine contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Johnny Nutt made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bo Bloodworth, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Davis, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Wilcox County's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Treutlen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.

Wilcox County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair will be back at it again later today.
