Softball Game Preview: Chamberlain Storm vs. Tampa Catholic Crusaders

The Chamberlain Storm will venture away from home to square off against the Tampa Catholic Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chamberlain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.

Chamberlain barely beat Leto the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Storm were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Falcons on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Storm.

Braylynn Ausman-Hall made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayda Ausman-Hall, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Peyton Lantz was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Chamberlain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leto only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, Tampa Catholic came up short against Trinity Catholic on Tuesday and fell 5-1.

Olivia Ricciardi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

Tampa Catholic's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6. As for Chamberlain, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 7-3.

Everything went Chamberlain's way against Tampa Catholic in their previous matchup back in March of 2018, as Chamberlain made off with an 8-0 win. Do the Storm have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
