Basketball Game Preview: Palm Desert Aztecs vs. Twentynine Palms Wildcats

The Palm Desert Aztecs will head out to take on the Twentynine Palms Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Palm Desert knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Twentynine Palms likes a good challenge.

Palm Desert saw some tournament action on Monday. Everything went their way against Royal as they made off with a 78-52 victory. The Aztecs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 26 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Desert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Brande, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 17 boards. Brande has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Wil Wilson was another key player, going 9-for-12 on his way to 20 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Twentynine Palms). They managed an 86-81 win over Big Bear on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Palm Desert's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Twentynine Palms, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Palm Desert ended up a good deal behind Twentynine Palms in their previous meeting back in December of 2019, losing 76-58. Can the Aztecs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
