Recap: Holdrege Dusters vs. Gothenburg Swedes
The Holdrege Dusters lost against the Gothenburg Swedes back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Holdrege ended up on the wrong side of a tough 62-37 walloping at the hands of the Swedes. Holdrege has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Holdrege's loss came despite strong showings from Garret Johnson and Coy Swanson. Johnson scored 15 points along with three blocks, while Swanson scored 14 points. That was a full 40.5% of Holdrege's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Holdrege has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Gothenburg, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Holdrege and the Haymakers will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Cozad focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday. As for Gothenburg, they will head out on the road to square off against the at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valentine will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Swedes are ranked 34th).
