Baseball Recap: Hialeah Educational Academy Comes Up Short

The matchup between Hialeah Educational Academy and Mater Academy Charter on Monday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie fell just short of the Mater Academy Charter Lions by a score of 11-10. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Biggie of the 1-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

ERNESTO VELASCO and DIEGO PEREZ did some serious damage despite the final result: VELASCO scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while PEREZ went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. VELASCO also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season. ROLANDO MENA was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Hialeah Educational Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Hialeah Educational Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Mater Academy Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Hialeah Educational Academy will head out on the road to take on Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mater Academy Charter, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Mater Academy Charter Lions duke it out with Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
