Softball Recap: Oneida Takes a Loss

Oneida lost against Gatlinburg-Pittman back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Oneida Indians lost 15-7 to the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders.

Jolie Duncan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and ten unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Oneida saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shayla Shoemaker, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Shoemaker has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Kamryn Lee, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Oneida's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oneida will square off against Oakdale at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they will head out on the road to challenge Seymour at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Gatlinburg-Pittman's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
