Football Game Preview: Middlesex vs. Governor's Academy Governors

Middlesex will venture away from home to take on the Governor's Academy Governors at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Middlesex came up short against Kingswood Oxford on Saturday, falling 34-10. While losing is never fun, Middlesex can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 220th in Massachusetts, while Kingswood Oxford is ranked 49th in Connecticut).

Meanwhile, Governor's Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 16-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Noble & Greenough.

Governor's Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Middlesex, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-2.

Middlesex took a serious blow against Governor's Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, falling 43-0. Can Middlesex avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
