Basketball Recap: Redding Christian Extends Winning Streak to Four

Redding Christian lost to Corning back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Redding Christian Lions walked away with a 47-38 victory over the Corning Cardinals. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Cardinals are ranked 873rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Corning lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brody Martinovich, who posted 16 points and six rebounds. Jeff Mendros was another key player, going 5 of 11 on his way to 10 points.

The win (which was Redding Christian's fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Corning, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Redding Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-53 defeat against Orland on the 11th. Corning has also already played their next contest, a 48-36 victory against Anderson on the 11th.
