Baseball Recap: Estill County Takes a Loss

Estill County blew Montgomery County out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Montgomery County got their revenge. Estill County fell just short of Montgomery County by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Engineers have suffered against the Indians since May 3, 2018.

Logan Friend was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Friend wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Drake, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Estill County's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-4. As for Montgomery County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Estill County will challenge Lee County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Montgomery County, they will square off against Mason County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
