Softball Recap: Collinsville's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Belleville West, Collinsville was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Alton Redbirds, sneaking past 7-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Kahoks as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak.

Ali Vieluf was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Preslie Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Bailey Demick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Collinsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Collinsville's record now sits at 5-13. As for Alton, their record is now 5-16.

Collinsville has already played their next match, a 15-0 win against Althoff Catholic on the 9th. As for Alton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-0 loss against Edwardsville on the 8th.
