Preview: Banneker Bulldogs vs. Bell Griffins
Banneker has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Bell Griffins at 5:30 p.m. Banneker will be strutting in after a victory while Bell will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Wednesday, Banneker was fully in charge, breezing past Woodson 45-11 on the road. The team accrued 39 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.
Banneker found their leader in underclassman Promise Njoku, who scored 18 points. Rainelle McNeill was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Bell faced Roosevelt in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bell took a serious blow against Roosevelt on Wednesday, falling 62-13. Bell's defeat keeps them winless this season.
The win got Banneker back to even at 1-1. As for Bell, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3.
Everything came up roses for Banneker against Bell in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 48-0 win. Will Banneker repeat their success, or does Bell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
