Football Recap: Tolman Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Tolman can now relate to. They were outmatched by the East Providence Townies and fell 48-9. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Townies: they've now lost four in a row.

East Providence was led to victory by Jacob Duarte and Isaac Rodriguez. Duarte threw for 128 yards and three TDs, while Rodriguez gained 124 total yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Duarte a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Trey Abdullah got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Tolman's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for East Providence, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Tolman and St. Raphael Academy will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on the 26th. The Saints' defense has only allowed 14.9 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for East Providence, they will square off against South Kingstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
