West Valley is a perfect 10-0 against Lathrop since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Wolf Pack will look to defend their home field against the Malemutes at 6:30 p.m. West Valley will be strutting in after a victory while Lathrop will be coming in after a defeat.
On Thursday, West Valley needed a bit of extra time to put away North Pole. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Patriots, sneaking past 4-3. The Wolf Pack haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Elias Powell was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Powell was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Mason Poulsen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
West Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Lathrop was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Monroe Catholic, falling 14-7. On the bright side, the seven- run effort marked the Malemutes' highest-scoring game to date.
West Valley's victory bumped their record up to 2-4-1. As for Lathrop, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
West Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Lathrop in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Wolf Pack repeat their success, or do the Malemutes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
