Basketball Game Preview: Chino Cowboys vs. Montclair Cavaliers

The Chino Cowboys will venture away from home to square off against the Montclair Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Chino knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Montclair likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Chino didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bonita, but they still walked away with a 70-66 victory.

Chino's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Treston Davis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten assists. Davis has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Shawn Jamison Jr, who posted 20 points.

Meanwhile, Montclair was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 39-38 to Chaffey. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1155th, while the Tigers are ranked 507th).

Chino's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-12. As for Montclair, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Chino against Montclair in their previous meeting last Friday, as the team secured a 92-65 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chino since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
