It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Celina had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on the Alvarado Indians with a sharp 52-27 win. Considering the Bobcats have won 12 matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Evan Koehne was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 116 yards and one TD, and also caught one touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Celina was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Celina didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Julian Mayfield and Luke Biagini. Biagini also rushed for 122 rushing yards, marking his first of the season.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Demarcus Belton, who rushed for 102 yards and one score on only nine carries, and also picked up 71 receiving yards. Belton's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. KJ Jenkins was another key player, throwing for 249 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Celina's record now sits at 14-0. As for Alvarado, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1.
Coming up, Celina will challenge Stephenville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will need to watch out since the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees have now posted at least 31 points in their last eight contests. Alvarado does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
