Football Game Preview: Cabot Panthers vs. Pulaski Academy Bruins

The Cabot Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Pulaski Academy Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cabot has given up an average of 49 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cabot is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Conway on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Panthers had to suffer through a 57-28 loss at the hands of the Wampus Cats. The Panthers have struggled against the Wampus Cats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Pulaski Academy faced Bryant in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bruins were outmatched by the Hornets and fell 48-14. The Bruins were down 27-6 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Although Pulaski Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Javion Walker and Chase Hancock.

Even if they lost, Pulaski Academy's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Ermon Tolbert and Austin Childers, who racked up four sacks between them. The game marked Childers' first with multiple sacks this season.

Cabot's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Pulaski Academy, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-4.

Cabot couldn't quite get it done against Pulaski Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 56-47. Thankfully for the Panthers, Brandon Cobb (who threw for 321 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 30 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
