Baseball Recap: Merritt Island Starts off Right with Win over Astronaut

Merritt Island had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Astronaut War Eagles with a sharp 8-0 win on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Ty Brandes, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Bryson Dietrich was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Merritt Island has already played their next contest (against Bayside), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Astronaut will be playing at home against Mainland at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Astronaut comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
