Jakerria Ringstaff and Samarian Franklin secure win for Wenonah

Recap: Wenonah Dragons vs. Pinson Valley Indians

The Wenonah Dragons waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Pinson Valley by a score of 51-41. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wenonah also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2020.

Leading Wenonah to victory were Jakerria Ringstaff and Samarian Franklin. Ringstaff scored 19 points along with six steals, while Franklin scored 18 points along with six assists and five steals. Franklin hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Blanks, who scored ten points.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aniya Brown, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Brown continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Gabbie Hopson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Wenonah has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Pinson Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wenonah will face off against Fairfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Wenonah is ranked 53rd). As for Pinson Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Mortimer Jordan at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
