Baseball Recap: De Pere Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

De Pere barely beat Stevens Point the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Redbirds put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-1 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Redbirds, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Caden Krutz made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Krutz was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

In other batting news, Ryan Wettstein was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

De Pere was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

De Pere's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Stevens Point, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: De Pere beat the Panthers by a score of 12-6 later that day.
