Softball Preview: Chillicothe Cavaliers vs. Miami Trace Panthers
Chillicothe and Miami Trace are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Chillicothe Cavaliers will stay at home for another game and welcome the Miami Trace Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chillicothe is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
While Chillicothe has not struggled against Vinton County recently, they managed to flip the script on Saturday. Chillicothe walked away with an 11-7 win over Vinton County.
CJ RITTINGER made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (she also didn't allow any walks). RITTINGER was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, CADIE BOLTENHOUSE was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. ISABELLA WITTE was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Miami Trace was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 15-5 walloping at the hands of Fairfield.
Chillicothe's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Miami Trace, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Chillicothe skirted past Miami Trace 8-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Will Chillicothe repeat their success, or does Miami Trace have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
