Football Game Preview: Jarrell Cougars vs. Salado Eagles

Jarrell is 0-3 against Salado since October of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Jarrell's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Jarrell fought the good fight in their overtime game against Wimberley on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 35-34 to the Texans. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Jarrell got top-tier performance from Joseph Travis, who rushed for 182 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries.

Meanwhile, Salado entered their tilt with Wimberley last Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took down the Texans 23-9.

Jarrell better keep an eye on Luke Bingham. He was instrumental in Salado's win, rushing for 135 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.

Salado was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 217 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Salado didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Hays Ramsey led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Damonte Foster is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least nine every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Wimberley's side was Luke Bauser, who made ten total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Salado's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Jarrell, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.
