Baseball Recap: Citrus Valley Victorious

Citrus Valley's tournament run continued when they took on Douglas on Saturday. Citrus Valley came out on top against Douglas by a score of 9-4.

Citrus Valley got a great performance from Julian Cesena as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Nathan Stamper was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole West, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Citrus Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Douglas struck out eight times.

Citrus Valley's record is now 5-7. As for Douglas, they dropped their record down to 4-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Citrus Valley will host Redlands at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Redlands' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Citrus Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Douglas, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against San Clemente at 2:30 p.m.
