You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Holy Family's strategy against Longmont on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Holy Family blew Longmont out of the water with a 57-28 final score. Given Holy Family's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Longmont is ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Holy Family's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Essynce Contreraz, who scored ten points along with five steals. Contreraz hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Gracie Ward, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Mead humbled Centaurus with a 66-27 victory.
Holy Family's win bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Mead, their win bumped their record up to 18-2.
Holy Family came up short against Mead when the teams last played back in January, falling 51-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mead's Madi Clark, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Now that Holy Family knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
