Soccer Game Preview: Orcutt Academy vs. Sunnyside

The Orcutt Academy Spartans will be taking part in a tournament against the Sunnyside Wildcats at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Orcutt Academy is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Santa Ynez on Thursday. The Spartans fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 2-1. Orcutt Academy have struggled against Santa Ynez recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Orcutt Academy's goal came courtesy of AJ SANCHEZ, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside and Sanger finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

With that draw, Sunnyside's record moves to 3-0-2. As for Orcutt Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2-1.

Orcutt Academy might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Sunnyside when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
