Basketball Recap: Hamilton Marines vs. Bethany Christian Bruins
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Hamilton Marines can now relate to. They suffered a tough 52-29 loss at the hands of the Bruins on Friday. Hamilton just can't catch a break and has now endured seven losses in a row.
It was another big night for Zoe Willems, who scored 24 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds for Bethany Christian. Willems has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Stoltzfus, who scored ten points along with five assists and three steals.
Hamilton has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Bethany Christian, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-6.
Hamilton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bethany Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Braves at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
