Basketball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Lee's Summit

There's no place like home for Lee's Summit, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Belton Pirates out 60-57. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Belton lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cooper Shrum, who posted 16 points and seven boards. Shrum has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Jayce Maiden was another key player, putting up 16 points and six rebounds.

Lee's Summit pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Belton, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Lee's Summit will take on Bentonville in a holiday battle at at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Belton, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Raytown at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. One thing working in Belton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.
