Baseball Game Preview: Scripps Ranch Falcons vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils

The Scripps Ranch Falcons will face off against the Mt. Carmel Sundevils at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Scripps Ranch is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Scripps Ranch is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bonita Vista on Wednesday.

Brayden Geruntino was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Southwest EC by a score of 1-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Sundevils were not able to get on the board.

Jack Grassa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Mt. Carmel saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Weber, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Scripps Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mt. Carmel, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Scripps Ranch came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Carmel when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Does Scripps Ranch have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Carmel turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
